Pictures have a tremendous power. Science proofed: Pictures are so powerful, they can actually heal physical pain! However, in a digitalized world where everybody can take and share pictures of everything at anytime, the core value of pictures is being pushed into the background.
As an imaging expert Nikon claims to be "at the heart of the image". So it was truly a matter of the heart to make people aware of the power of pictures in a way, they have never experienced it before. Based on a medical study of UCLA, Jung von Matt/ Spree, Germany developed a scientific project in cooperation with the Red Cross Clinic Kassel, Germany, that aimed at easing not only emotional, but also physical pain of hospital patients. With "Power of Pictures"we initiated a way for pain therapy patients to receive personal pictures of beloved ones shared via an app and microsite, made accessible by digital photo frames. As a result, "Power of Pictures" did not only make pain therapy patients experience the power of pictures. Medical experts, family and friends became enthusiastic witnesses of the project, which created an enormous PR-buzz for the brand in Germany. It was even so successful, that it’s now been turned into a long-term study.
