DonateLife America makes giving a heart on Instagram actually mean giving a heart. There are over 4,000 people on the heart transplant waiting list in the US.
To encourage more people to register as donors, DonateLife America is using Instagram’s heart icon as a simple way to sign up.The "Give Me A Heart" Instagram campaign from Ogilvy & Mather Chicago, launching April 6th, features portraits of actual men, women and children who are on the heart transplant waiting list. Included in their posts are how long they’ve been on the waiting list and their story of what they would do if they received the gift of life. Taking advantage of the native functionality of Instagram, they ask Instagram users to "Give me a heart" both metaphorically through a double-tap, and literally by signing up to be a donor.
When an Instagram user likes a heart waiting list patient’s photo, the heart icon appears directly over their existing heart. They are then directed to DonateLife's organ donation page where registering only takes a minute.
Visit @donatelifeamerica page on Instagram to see the campaign.
