Last year, Sweden was the first country in the world to get its own phone number. The highly awarded campaign The Swedish Number made it possible for people from all over the world to call a random Swede. Now it’s Sweden’s turn to pick up the phone and call another country. March 15 officially marks six years of the violent conflict in Syria. According to UNICEF reports, millions of children are affected by the war and the situation is severe. Syria is probably the most dangerous place on earth to be a child. Every day, children are killed, injured, or scarred for life, says Hanaa Singer, UNICEF's Country Representative Syria.
To pay attention to the urgent situation in Syria, UNICEF Sweden launches the initiative The Syrian Number. By calling number +46 85 511 7864 you get a glimpse of what it is like growing up in war- torn Syria. The concept of the campaign is based on The Swedish Number, but instead of a random Swede explaining Sweden you get children's perspective on the reality of war.
