Guest judge: Stephen Goldblatt, ECD at EVB, San Francisco

 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    August 29, 2012 06:49 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
Winner: Nike Jordan - It's a well told story and beautifully shot.

BEST PRINT
Winner: Chinese Whaler spitting up milk. This ad was the only one in the bunch that made me think "Shit, these guys went for it." It's well executed and incredibly memorable.

BEST OUTDOOR
The HushAlive movie poster is a good example of doing more with print.
Second place goes to the McDonald's piece. The creative team took an unsexy brief and made something really sort of cool and interesting.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: The ESPN Fantasy Football kit is something I can actually see the target using. It's the right tone, the right amount of interaction and customization for a crowd that usually won't entertain the usual online gimmick.

https://www.bestadsontv.com/news/upload/StephenGoldblatt-sm.jpgThis week's guest judge is Stephen Goldblatt, Partner, Executive Creative Director at EVB (Evolution Bureau), San Francisco.

EVB helps builds brands with ideas and initiatives that are social by design to create highly entertaining content that consumers spread through their social networks.

Goldblatt and business partner Daniel Stein's environment encourages curiosity, collaboration and a passion for blending advertising, social marketing, PR, entertainment and technology. Clients include Altoids, Skittles, Orbit, Facebook, Juicy Fruit, Firefox, Absolut.

Before joining EVB in 2009, Goldblatt spent eight years at Goodby, Silverstein and Partners creating for clients such as Saturn, HP, Subway, Comcast, Ace Hardware, Budweiser, Adobe and Ebay.

As Group Creative Director, Goldblatt led digital and traditional efforts and co-created HP's 'hands' campaign ('The Computer is Personal Again') featuring Jay-Z, Jerry Seinfeld, Serena Williams and Pharrell Williams. 'Hands' racked up numerous awards for the agency in 2007 and 2008.

Additional awards include 2010 Cannes Bronze Cyber Lion for Skittles (EVB's 'Mob The Rainbow'); a 2002 Cannes Bronze Film Lion for HP ('Deleted Images'); Cannes Gold Film Lion for the SF Jazz Festival (2001). A 2007 Gold Effie for 'The Slowskys', a Comcast campaign and a 2008 Gold Effie for HP the computer is personal again.

At Cannes 2011, two of Goldblatt's EVB campaigns shortlisted in the Cyber category: Juicy Fruit's 'Serenading Unicorn' and Altoids' 'Curiously Strong Awards' (twice).

Merging years of agency experience and relationships with his knowledge of emerging media, Goldblatt is a liaison between the leaders of advertising organizations and the most meaningful players in social marketing as the medium evolves. Case in point: He introduced One Show president Kevin Swanepoel and (EVB client) Jen Kattula (Facebook) and created an incredibly successful 'Facebook Studio Live' at this year's event.
