 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    July 09, 2013 08:38 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
It's tough picking a winner here; the standard is remarkably high. The Nike basketball effort is a worthy runner-up but it's the Argentinian spot for Andes beer that makes my top pick. Spoof charity ads are hardly new and they are usually done pretty badly. But this is executed with a lightness of touch, a tight narrative and great casting. Muy bueno.

BEST PRINT
It's equally tough to pick a winner among the print because sadly the standard is remarkably low. Some great photoshop skills are on show for sure, but too many of these rely on spurious borrowed interest. They mostly feel like hard work. The best of an average bunch is the simplest; The Ronin Sushi delivery work. Runner-up; Chez frozen meals. Sorry I can't be more positive.

BEST OUTDOOR
Much to love here. The Samsung outdoor experiential is fun and the Black Sabbath campaign for Universal (my runner-up) is superbly crafted. But my clear winner is the Clear Channel work from the US. It's interactive, effortless and spine tingling. Of course you could argue that doing posters for a poster contractor is a dream brief, but that shouldn't detract from what is a brilliant answer to said brief.

BEST INTERACTIVE
There are three strong and simple contenders here; the Smart Car parking app game plus the Gollog and Peugeot online display work. My runner up is the Smart Car app and the winner by a nose is the Peugeot work. Just occasionally a neat interactive idea doesn't need a two-minute film to explain why it is good. This is one of those.
