BEST TVJean Paul Gaultier Parfums: On the Docks. God I love the French. This ad is so simple and beautifully crafted - words that we use too little in advertising. I think that is why I've always loved BNF's work - you can see the extra time they spend to bring the world within their imagination to life on the screen.
BEST PRINTChapel Bar & Bistro: 7 Years of Almighty Nights Lounge. I love these ads because you can't ignore them. In a world of mediocre, after-thought print campaigns, these provocative, relevant ads really grab you by your eyeballs.
BEST OUTDOOR Vancouver Aquarium: Fish Mob. When I first started in advertising I remember asking myself all the time, "How do I avoid making an ad that simply disrupts peoples lives?" Well, somewhere between all of the meetings and deadlines we forget that ads can actually make someone's day better. And it's that magic, all too forgotten truth that makes this ad so simply altruistic and powerful.
BEST INTERACTIVEHeineken: Dropped. I love where advertising is going - not just disrupting the viewer's entertainment, but becoming it. I just don't know that we have fully cracked it yet. What's the brand's role? How heavy-handed can they be? Should they just be sponsors? I don't think any of us really know yet but I applaud the pioneers that are paving our way there.
