 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    January 21, 2014 02:09 (Edited: February 17, 2023 05:19)
BEST TV
Maybe it's the curse of this site's domain name, but there always seems to be richer pickings in this column than others. And this week is no different. Runner up: A photo finish between the latest kayak.com and Innocent Smoothies. For me, 'Chain of Good' would have been much sharper shorter (the curse of so many web film edits). So for pure mastery of comedy writing in 30 seconds 'Stair Lift' edges it for me. Particularly for the priceless parting shot of the son overtaking his ancient mother on the stairs. The clear winner though this week is Guinness 'Sapeurs'. I was never sold on 'Made of more' compared to 'Good things take time' but this execution gives the platform real traction. Not quite Frank Budgen's iconic snail racing spot but damn close. Love those Congonese dandies.

BEST PRINT
Nothing to see here. What's happened to good print?

BEST OUTDOOR
One clear winner. Yes, I know it's a tad old school but Devil's Due stands out like the 666 on Damian's scalp. Could have been oh so shit but with cool animatronics, a bit of nifty remote control pram action and some projectile vomiting thrown in - or up - they pulled it off. For me, the best thing about it is the video. The editing is brilliant and the comedy divine. Is there an awards video category yet? Shit, they've got Healthcare Lions this year. Stranger things have happened.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Runner up: Prime TV 'Dr Who Time Machine'. Nifty banner idea, but the winner (despite a truly terrible awards video) is Samsung 'Eyes on the Road'. This is a rare thing. An App idea that is truly scalable. It could actually save lives. How many Apps can you say that about?
