BEST TVNothing rose to the top out of the 6 ads I saw. But I do want to make a point, that if the Saatchi
Pampers guys had been aware of the other ads I'll bet they wouldn't have gone through with it. We love to act as ad police (especially on this blog) but there's no way a creative can see everything out there, even in his own category. And I have NEVER met a creative who would go through with selling and producing something if they knew there was a piece of work out there so similar. We flatter ourselves by thinking people everywhere are paying attention to everything we do. They aren't. I've met junior creatives who have never heard of Guinness Surfer. Cut your fellow creatives a break. Yes I agree that they could have been aware, yes I agree that judges could have flagged it, and yes Cannes should have checked it better. But I'll bet they didn't steal, they just didn't know.
BEST OUTDOOR I liked so much of the stuff in this category. The
Love is Love stuff is very well done and very timely. The
Coke stuff from Dubai is such a simple film; it's popped up on facebook several times for me. The
Tinder watch made a lazy person like me laugh. But I was really charmed by the
Swiss tourism poster. The live link to the train station was good but then they showed everyone having a great lunch on the hilltop. Really charming, simple and funny. I hope they all got drunk.
BEST INTERACTIVEThe Stockholm tour guide seems to be the way things are going, although the video did a piss poor job of showing me what I will actually be doing with the thing. Lots of promises that its cool without showing me why.
Polo banners were fun too. Banners are hard.
BEST RADIOWell Written Weather. Funny, smart, simple. And could run throughout the festival and not get boring.
