 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    August 08, 2016 16:25 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
Winner: Olympic Champions Against All Odds. Now that the Olympics are upon us, pretty much every brand is screaming 'Faster, Higher, Stronger'. But if there's anyone that needs our support now more than ever are the millions of refugees around the world. And this spot does it beautifully by telling the story of people who are not only running away from things gruesome, but also running towards things beautiful.

Runner up: Apple - The Human Family. Shot entirely on an iPhones, this is a beautiful spot held together by Maya Angelou's poem, The Human Family. A quiet, thoughtful spot that is more effective than all the rhetoric out there about all of us belonging together.

BEST PRINT
Winner: Down Under Film - Australia Versus Australia. A simple powerful visual idea that negates all that is different between people and affirms all that is common. The right message for our times, presented simply and powerfully.

Runner Up: PETA Trophies. Something about the sad expression on the dog's face makes me reach for the tissue. And I'm actively considering getting a pup for my little girl. And this ad has convinced me to adopt rather than buy. One less dog from a breeder. Job done.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: Channel 4 - Britain's Most Diverse Street. Channel 4 lets the very people whose stories they're telling advertise the programme. The result is a warm and charming spot that makes you want to watch the programme.

Runner up: Fruit Of The Loom - Welcome To Fruit. Not the first time that people have been made to rethink their purchase decisions by showcasing the product in a different setting. But this is charmingly done. And the reaction of the ladies is priceless.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: Mizuno Golden Runners - It's Time To Shine Challenge. We know from gaming that people will do anything to get to the top of the leaderboard. This campaign just takes it to the street. Make the fastest time and you get to be on the billboard. Till someone faster comes along, that is.

Runner up: Tuborg - Your Choice of Fun. The perfect cure for pesky pre-roll video. You get to pick the pre-roll!

BEST RADIO
Winner: Irish examiner - Male Dominated Kitchen. It's true. Women do most of the cooking at home, but most of the celebrity chefs are men. This spot strings words together cleverly to make you wonder why.

Runner up: Conroy Removals - Brexit. This spot rides on recent political upheavals to drive home its point. You don't need a referendum to leave a country, you only need Conroy Removals. Ha!
