Guest Judge: Lisa Fedyszyn, associate CD, Droga5, New York

 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    February 21, 2017 09:13 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
Winner: "Spread the word, darlin'. Omar back!" The Atlantic: Am I Typecast?. Runs for 2mins 50secs but it held my attention the entire time. Beautifully written, and (type)cast. It's funny, clever, and thought-provoking. And in a time of Swedish terrorism, bowling green massacres, and other alternative facts, it's never been more imperative to question the answers we are fed.

Runner up: It was hard to pick a runner up, as the quality drops off after The Atlantic. But I'll give the nod to Argentina's Presidency of the Nation: 5 Places You Should Visit If You Wanna Shout. Why the f#@^ not?

BEST PRINT
"You come at the King, you best not miss'" and unfortunately in print this week they did.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: Snickers: Forgetful outdoor is my pick. Although, it turns out you are not you when you are hungry and submitting photos, because these just show us billboards directing passersby elsewhere. We're missing the visual where the message 'Forgetful' was spelled out in thousands of Valentine's Day cards, for those passing by to peel off and use.

Runner up: Let's just say I didn't eat a Snickers, and forgot to choose one.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: Ugly and forgotten: Valentine's Cards, speaking of ugly, forgotten and Valentine's Day, I received near dead flowers on the 15th. I would have been much happier with The Blobfish card and have the proceeds go to the Marine Conservation Institute.

Runner up: The Bjorn Borg: Twitter Punching Bag. Sharing love instead of hate via a tweeting punching bag is hard to land, but nevertheless, they tried something new. My punching bag tweets would look something like this; grkigsdhbchqreghbhsb

This week's guest judge is Lisa Fedyszyn, associate creative director, Droga5, New York.

After working in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia, Lisa moved to New Zealand to escape paying student loans. Fearing the university system was closing in on her some eight years later, she up and left, flying to New York to join the safe haven of Droga5.

During her time in the industry, Lisa's charged male politicians 10% more than women for their morning coffee to bring awareness to pay inequality, got weird with an inflatable tubeman for Scion, humiliated one of Australia's most celebrated sportsmen for McDonald's, strapped New Zealand's top creative leaders to lie detectors for the Effie Awards (and proved they do lie in their award videos), and crammed 60 scenes into a 60-second spot for Sky Television. She has also hidden novels in Word and PowerPoint documents, so employees could read books at work.

For her efforts she was named among Young Guns' Top 10 Creatives of the Decade, and along the way she has won awards at Cannes, D&AD, One Show, Clio and The Webbys. And for two years, Lisa was national head of AWARD School in New Zealand, which was ideal because she is nurturing, yet bossy.

If you are ever in the West Village pop over and say hello. She keeps a spare key under the mat.
