“Collections’ is a graphic campaign for Josefinas, the Portuguese footwear brand.

Created by Coming Soon Lisboa and illustrated by British artist Jacqueline Bissett, “Collections” was launched during New York Fashion Week. The campaign’s pretension is to shift the conversation: from beauty and glamour to a raw and cruel reality. The ‘Collections’ t-shirts tell the stories of three abused women, and reflect the most common excuses given to families and friends when bruises start to show – “I walked into something”, “I ran into a door”, “I fell down the stairs”. After a physical aggression, it’s common for a woman to feel guilty and even worthy of these acts of abuse, hiding what’s really happening and forgiving the aggressor. Domestic violence can happen to any woman.

The campaign is an extension of the ‘You Can Leave’ initiative, a sneaker collection against domestic violence. Since July 2018, ‘You Can Leave’ has helped more than 60 women victims of domestic violence. Each t-shirt costs $90 and is available worldwide starting today, exclusively at josefinas.com/you-can-leave. The three t-shirts support victims of domestic violence through Brooke Axtell’s organization ‘She is Rising’, a healing community for women and girls overcoming rape, abuse and sex trafficking. 20% of sales go directly to ‘She is Rising’, providing life changing services like safety planning, counseling and mentoring.
