This week, Macy's launched its holiday campaign, "Santa Girl," a heartwarming and empowering story about the wonder of the season and remembering that anything can happen when we believe. The theme is "Believe in the wonder" - the platform Macy's has used for its holiday advertising for the past three years.
Inspired by the iconic Santa Claus in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, “Santa Girl” tells the story of Virginia, a young girl who decides she wants to spread joy throughout the world just like jolly, old St. Nick. After publicly voicing her dream, she is quickly challenged by her fellow classmates who tell her she can’t be Santa because she’s a girl. But thanks to her own grit and determination and a little help from her parents, Virginia breaks through stereotypes to make her holiday wish come true. Created by BBDO New York, the film stars Critics Choice Award winning actress, Brooklyn Prince, as Virginia. It also features an all-star line-up of talent behind the camera including Oscar-nominated director Garth Davis; Emmy-winning composer, Dustin O’Halloran; and Emmy-winning cinematographer, Adam Arkapaw. The result is advertising that feels more like watching a film than a commercial. The film, which comes in :30, :60 and a longer-length 2-minute version, will run on TV, OLV, in-theaters and social, along with robust supportive content.
