Culture lives on in all of us, it beats in our hearts and we carry it forward with us.
This is a special project working with a brave client. In celebrating the story of traditional Zulu culture in South Africa, we were tasked with connecting our characters to the very thing that keeps us alive, and therefore culture alive; the heart. We use the heart as a portal to travel through and connect characters through the ages. We made sure to be as authentic as possible, featuring a real Sangoma (traditional healer) and other well-researched and culturally relevant scenarios. We also tried to re-frame some relationships, like the father-son relationship, to create a more meaningful and warm take on this bond. We explore the perspective of a gen-Z character who appears to have lost touch with their roots. But ultimately, we end on an ethereal and positive look to the future, with our future character returned to her roots and to nature. She is the optimistic representation of the future of culture.

This has been released on TV as a 30" and this longer 75" version online, with a host of teasers, as well as a music video collaboration that connects a very well-established legendary South African musician and a new up and coming talent.
