Opera GX Village in Andorra promises "top of the line setups in every room, more LEDs than an eSports final and some of the lowest taxes in the world." Opera GX, the first browser for gamers, announced today plans to venture from browser development into property development and build a gated community just for gamers. Located in the heart of the European country of Andorra, each home in "Opera GX Village" will come equipped with everything a professional gamers needs.
Agency: Officer& Gentleman
The tongue-in-cheek activation is meant to wink at the many big name streamers, like Rubius, TheGrefg and Auronplay, who have moved to the mountainous nation in recent years for its generous tax benefits. To get the word out about the activation, created by the Madrid-based ad agency Officer & Gentleman, the brand launched a humorous promotional video for their fictional housing development. In it, an overzealous real estate agent tells viewers about the amenities at Opera GX Village, as he takes them on a tour of the over-the-top installations – including setups in the bathroom and desktop food delivery. Later, as he writhes around on a bed covered in 500€ notes, he assures viewers that the best part of living in Andorra is “skiing in the winter, mountain biking in the summer and saving your hard-earned cash all year round.” The brand will be giving gamers a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to spend a weekend in their prototype home: A house in Andorra decked out with setups, LEDs and a copious amount of gaming chairs. To apply, users will have to upload a video to Twitter, tagging @operagx and #OperaGXVillage, explaining why they’d make the ideal first resident in this gamer’s paradise.
