HBO knows that homemade gifts can be great. But some things are just too one-of-a-kind to be recreated. That's the insight behind a new holiday campaign from BBDO New York for HBO Home Entertainment, designed to encourage gift-giving of DVD boxed-sets of three of the networks' most popular series: Eastbound and Down, Entourage and True Blood. A TotalWork campaign reminds people to never, ever give homemade HBO. Humorous new TV ads debuting today will show what it's like to attempt to re-create some of your favorite scenes from these HBO programs. In addition, at www.makeyourownHBO.com, users can participate in an augmented reality experience. Without the aid of any markers, people can use their hands to control virtual sock puppets representing iconic HBO characters. They can record their homemade scenes from HBO shows and gift them to friends via Facebook.
