Gigantti: THE MOST STUPID CONSUMER COULD IT BE YOU?

Gigantti is the Dixons or Best Buy of Finland. Their tagline “It’s darn stupid to pay too much” has become a widely used proverb – a part of popular culture. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, 358 Helsinki built up this campaign where we seek for the “most stupid consumer in Finland”. Anybody can participate by submitting videos or written stories about stupid purchases. The winner, the most stupid consumer, wins a grant of 5 000 € to practice sound consuming in Gigantti. There were thousands of stories.

Randy’s girlfriend was turning 20. He decided to give her a birthday gift that they both could enjoy: silicon breast implants. He took a quick loan and bought a voucher to plastic surgery. But his girlfriend wasn’t happy at all. She even gave him a slap in the face. Randy suggested changing it to liposuction. Another slap. Is Jani the most stupid consumer in Finland? Or is it you?

Jaakko was on a holiday at Rhodes. There he met a guy who sold watches. One of the watches looked very good. Jaakko bought it for the price of 1000 euros. On the airport the watch suddenly broke into pieces. Jaakko was asked to see the customs staff. They opened his luggage and found some bottles that shouldn’t be there. And then... ehm. Is Jaakko the the most stupid consumer in Finland? Or is it you?
