Innocence in Danger, an international association fighting against child sexual abuse, is launching a new campaign to decry the everyday monsters. The "Real Monsters" campaign, made by Publicis Conseil in Paris, uses the imaginary world of childhood, with bed stories and monsters “that don’t exist”, to underline that for some children, monster do exist. In real life. The 3 visuals, illustrated by Michael Rieder, shows 3 of these humanized “monsters”, threatening 3 children in their own bedrooms. 80% of child abuse are committed by close relatives, known by the young victims. This proximity makes it even harder to detect these monstrous predators. Because parents have hard time to imagine that relatives could commit the worst, and children have even more difficulty to talk and expose their aggressors. That’s why the campaign encourages people to go on the association website where a help to learn the warning signs of child sexual abuse has been specially created.
