Description
------------------------------------
Picasso Pictures and award winning directing team, tokyoplastic, continue their highly successful collaboration with Toyota in the form of this new animated US TV spots for the Yaris. This outstanding commercial was produced alongside the creative talents of US multicultural agency, Burrell Communications. Building on the 2006 campaign (created in partnership with Saatchi & Saatchi LA) this new spot, designed to appeal more directly to the African American market, exposes a more urban side to the Yaris’ mischievously lovable character.
‘Bomb Da Bass’ emphasises the Yaris’ MP3 compatibility by paying homage to the classic breakdance standoff. Each Yaris serves a maxed out beat and blasts the other with its supersonic vibration. As the phat sounds pump out, their speakers grow to radical proportions. Eventually the bass reaches such intensity that the super-sized speakers can take no more and break free. We see them transformation into strange robotic speaker creatures which scuttle and lumber away to safety.

Creative Commentary
------------------------------------
tokyoplastic commented: “Both the agencies we’ve worked with on the Toyota campaign, Saatchi’s LA and Burrell, have demonstrated great enthusiasm and creative vision, and we certainly feel that Toyota has supported all of us in the creation of some really cutting edge work. These most recent spots (produced with Burrell) are some of the most exciting work we’ve ever produced. Looking back on the creative process it is easy to see why; from the outset both Toyota and Burrell demonstrated a confidence in their ideas, their product and our work, enabling us the space and creative freedom to produce some great work.”
