This week's guest judge is the founder of Happy Soldiers, Sydney.
John Kane founded Happy Soldiers Sydney in 2007 as a creative collective. In 2009 it became a full service agency and in 2011, to everyone's surprise, the Happy Soldiers shut the doors, for the time being anyway. Happy Soldiers won Hotshop of the Year, Idea of the Year (twice), Campaign of the Year, the odd Cannes Gold and much more in their short lifespan.
Before Happy Soldiers John worked in many places in many countries that made the idea of Happy Soldiers a necessity.
Right now he is doing nothing, apart from this review, while wondering what to do when the time comes to do something again.
BEST TVWinner - My favourite is
Old Spice. I had no idea where they would go with this campaign and I don't believe there were too many places they could go. But they went with Fabio and it will work, in lots of places, lots of times. Mustafa versus Fabio? My money is on Fabio.
Runner Up -
Sydney Opera House for a beautifully crafted piece.
BEST PRINTWinner - I'm going to go for the
Volunteer Wildfire Services. I got it quickly.
Runner Up - As a runner up I would go with
Snopake.
BEST OUTDOORWinner - Ouch help. The only one I think might work is the
Tourism Fiji poster. Apologies but I really struggled with everything else.
BEST INTERACTIVEWinner - I really liked the
Byron Bay Writer's Festival idea. Finding a new way to turn something functional and boring into something inspiring.
Runner Up -
The Galaxy SII is also very intriguing and something I believe people will engage with.
