 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    May 13, 2019 13:07 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
Winner: *Tink *Tink *Tink *Cough* Is this on? The TV winner is Spark 'The Wedding Speech'. Great performances based around a simple message about communication, all from a mobile phone company. It's a bit soppy, but sometimes that's no bad thing.

Runner Up: Combat Stress 'Bring them home'. A powerful piece of film, really well shot. I liked it so much that I'd love to see less of it. I'd like to see a shorter cut. You get the idea immediately and read the pain and loss early, as a viewer I'd like to fill some of the blanks myself.

BEST PRINT
Winner: It has to be the Burger King, Clown Free. I know. Again. I'm not sure when the Clowns idea runs out of steam, but it has survived this round. It's simple and visceral and taps into the universal truth that clowns are both scary and weird.

Runner Up: Avocado. Really like the simplicity of this execution. It's no "Ikea pregnancy test", but the usefulness of the ad makes it interesting.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: It's interesting that no traditional outdoor makes it into the shortlist this month. Luckily there's lots of interesting work that uses outdoor in a non-traditional way. The snappily titled "NGO Movimento Super Acao: Without ramps, sidewalks are walls" wins it. A brilliant way of making you look at the world around you from the perspective of wheelchair users.

Runner Up: Uber Eats 'Shark Bait' is a really solid runner up. It's the campaign that stayed with me the longest after judging. It's really good fun, which made it stand out a mile in the category.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: Life Saving Soap Opera for the Peruvian Ministry of Health. Loved this idea. Transplanting a story line from one soap opera to another is a really smart way of illustrating the benefits of organ donation.

Runner Up: Pantene SHE. Search Human Equalizer. A really smart idea, confronting search engine bias with a powerful message about equality. Powerful enough to overcome a slightly clunky acronym.
