Guest Judges: Clayton Homer + Dillon Elliott, CDs, TBWA\Dublin

 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    November 04, 2019 16:03 (Edited: February 17, 2023 05:19)
BEST TV
Winner: Argos 'The Book of Dreams'. A lovely, bold and insightful piece about one of my personal favourite pieces of childhood literature - the Argos Catalogue. Captures that feeling of totally nonsensical abundance in a way only Argos could do it, and the track's just perfect.

Runner up: CLiQQ 'Darkula'. This made us laugh. There's something lovely about the camply hysterical backstory jammed up against the daily grind of bills. Love that they just keep going, and don't let their mask slip.

BEST PRINT
Winner: Simple Green BBQ Cleaner 'King Kong'. The art direction here is just lovely. And when you can tell a big, relatively epic story with two words, a product shot and a pack you've got a great piece of print.

Runner up: Volkswagen Argentina 'Storms/Sand'. It's funny, we had slightly different interpretations of what was going on here, to be completely honest. But whichever of us was right, this is a brave piece, and using the raw emotion of the pick-up beats a laboured beauty shot any day.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: Vanish Multi Power 'Vanishing Stories'. What's not to like about a big soft friendly book you can write your own stories on? Nothing. And if requires you buy a tonne of (very effectively demonstrated) product to keep using it, then, well, all the better.

Runner up: VOO Telecom 'Video Call Art 1'. We just found ourselves really wanting to look at this. Then the fun, cheeky pay off made us realised we had been played. Love that.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: The Florida Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists 'Fake News'. As a piece of interactive, this is brilliant, our favourite piece of the week. What's more interactive than cease and desists to the U.S. President? It's also a great piece of film, with so many lovely little touches, and just, really, a great big idea.

Runner Up: Budweiser 'Kiss Bottle'. Pop, sexy, brave, smart and iconoclastic. Such a clever way to navigate a tough media environment for a great cause.
