Guest Judge: Tara Ford, CCO, The Monkeys, Sydney

 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    December 13, 2021 13:15 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
Winner: PSA 'Twas the Call Before Christmas'. Don't mind a little absurdity, and in this case, you get the message loud and clear. A serious issue done in an entertaining way. And a timely reminder. So timely I had better stop writing this and tuck my kids into bed...

Runner up: CANAL+ 'The Codes 2'. Last year CANAL+ launched an ad with the stars of the network, including famous actor Kad Merad, looking for their login information for the channel. It was so popular that Kad now constantly gets asked for his password in real life everywhere he goes. So, this is a great example of when advertising cascades into real life and then back again.
It's nice to see a brand being playful like this.

BEST PRINT
Winner: APACAUVI 'One means of transport can lead to another'. Being on a scooter feels free and easy. Kids ride them right? We're not used to being told otherwise. This just might cause pause for thought as the wheelchairs were parked amongst the scooters for real. Perhaps better outdoor than print. Placement and timing are key.

Runner up: None

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: IKEA 'Set-the-tablecloths'. Over the past year and all the lockdowns there's probably been a lot of eating on the couch, and the kitchen island. Maybe also while standing in the fridge (or maybe just me) but not so much of the formal sit-down entertaining, so this is a good reminder for people on how to set a table with aplomb. Simple design with function.

Runner up: True Gum 'The Big Plastic Raid'. Chewing gum contains the same type of plastic that's used to produce plastic bottles and bags. No great for the environment but also not at all delicious. Makes you think twice.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: VICE World News 'The Unfiltered History Tour'. This is one of those ideas that you see and think it should have been done before. Simple and thought provoking. Taking the most disputed artifacts in the British Museum and telling the original stories behind them. The moments they were removed and the cultural significance according to people from the homelands. Feels like this one could go bigger and better still.

Runner up: None
