When Covid closed Australian skies for nearly three years, one airline provided the only connection to the USA. The planes held only a handful of passengers but the cargo hold was full of medical supplies, masks, vaccines, and Christmas and
birthday presents. It was one of the most expensive logistical exercises United had ever undertaken. We wrote three long copy full-page ads in broadsheet newspapers to tell the story of how one airline had Australia's back - it just wasn't the one they thought it would be.
