BEST TVWinner: Kathmandu '
Summer Never Sleeps'. I love its old vibes craft and the storytelling. I find it a bizarrely funny story; in a journey from day to night, a group of friends shows us that in summer, anything goes. The music is a real find, a song from Brazil from the 70s that makes the spot even more memorable.
Runner up: Snack Jack '
UFO'. I've always admired how irreverent Thai advertising can be. This case is no exception: a story of more than 3 minutes, starring aliens and with multiple absurd situations, makes this spot an extremely fun piece. And as much as it seems like nonsense, it's pretty insightful.
BEST PRINTWinner: Pilsener ABINBev '
Beaten Labels'. A subtle and elegant way to dramatize and combat the effects of alcohol excess. A brave client, capable of altering the brand's label seeking to reduce the risks that irresponsible consumption brings.
Runner up: Listerine '
Sweet Germs'. Comparing candies with the germs that could be born in children's mouths from eating them, is a fresh and different way of demonstrating the benefit of the product. In addition, when the work comes from students, it is a pleasant surprise.
BEST OUTDOOR It was very close between Canada Prostate Cancer Foundation BC '
Checkup briefs' and Their World '
#LetmeLearn'. I really like the simplicity of the first idea. A double opening brief to de-dramatize prostate checkup exams, becomes an object to collect and at the same time, a news story. On the other hand, I find the use of the deep fake technique very interesting. Giving students around the world a voice to challenge political leaders makes this OOH action shareable and memorable. Their World '#LetmeLearn' is the winner.
Runner up: Sea Shepherd '
Extinct ink'. Every tattoo has a story to tell. When that story is about an extinct marine species it makes it more meaningful and relevant. Nice idea.
BEST INTERACTIVEWinner: The Woods Art Institute '
The Art of Trending'. Artificial Intelligence and Trending Topics becoming art. A big, relevant initiative. A smart and engaging way to use new technologies. Kudos for the idea.
Runner up: Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation '
Chatham Plays On'. Rescuing from oblivion the first all-black baseball team to win the Ontario league is a great initiative itself. Recovering that memory by hacking / editing the game and recreating the team using files, photos and the remembering of their relatives makes it extremely powerful.
