To ensure complete authenticity, Engine commissioned films featuring two people who are spinal cord injured – Raquel Siganporia and Andrew Smart – as opposed to using actors.

Despite these figures, many riders still let safety take a back seat whilst they ride. Research shows that the majority of motorcyclists don't need to be told what to do and how to stay safe on the road because deep down they already know – they just don't practice it. So rather than trying to tell them again, we designed a situation where motorcyclists intuitively start talking about safety themselves. The situation involved rigging up a reputable motorcycle shop with hidden cameras then stocking it with ridiculous, fake safety products such as adult training wheels and an airbag fitted to the handle bars of a bike. The concealed cameras then captured real motorcyclists’ reactions who started their own conversations about what keeps them safe – and what certainly won’t. Agency: The Brand Agency, Perth.

To promote and celebrate each font, and the unique Soho history behind it, we created a set of street posters. The posters were legally fly-posted around Soho, close to the signs that inspired their fonts and the stories behind them. Most have now been torn down, just like the signs themselves.

Winner: Audi 'Synchronised Swimming'. This piece of film is fascinating to watch and it entertained me in ways car ads often fail to. I love the idea of drawing parallels between the extreme precision required for synchronised swimming and the extreme precision we expect from our vehicle. I'm sold.

Clear Channel: The Out of Home Project

One problem though - they open in different locations every time, and it's difficult to reach the homeless with the information in time. Since Clear Channel is present everywhere people are, we saw an opportunity to help out. We turned Clear Channel's network of digital billboards into an emergency system. When the temperature drops to negative 7 degrees or colder, the screens directed homeless people to their closest emergency shelter. By using real-time data and GPS coordinates, collected from a number of organizations and institutions.

But it's hard to change behaviour when you can't fully understand the problem. So we created a 360-degree, binaural recording, to replicate how the streets sound to women. The audio was recorded in Melbourne's city streets to ensure it was as realistic as possible. For the first time, men could hear what women have heard their entire lives, before being directed to the Plan International webpage where they could share the track and learn simple behavioural changes they could begin making immediately to help everyone feel safer on our streets at night.

The Museum of Memory and Human Rights, at the time, was being questioned by right wing parties, saying that it was founded to portray a false version of history, as things happened differently, without violence, or didn't even happen. To shed some light over what happened the 11th of September of 1973 to those youngsters who were not here to live it, we recovered, edited and organized in chronological order more than 550 audio files from different radios that transmitted what was happening in that fatal day. Compiling all this material in a minute by minute timeline to relive through audio the chilean coup d'état (the first day of a 17 years dictatorship), just how it happened. All this material was broadcasted during the 11th of September, 2018, on one of the AM radio stations that were shut down by Pinochet in 1973, starting the transmission at 8am to match the minute by minute of which was happening back then.
