To advertise the benefits of a Bosch EAZEO CCTV Security System we actively demonstrated the disadvantages of not having one. Polaroid photos were taken outside homes and businesses and a sticker was placed on the back before dropping them in their respective mailboxes. After shuddering, customers could phone the advertised number for installations in their area.

DDB South Africa placed a car in the Johannesburg International Airport parking, right next to the passenger walkway. What made this car unique was that it was covered with fines and warnings, which read: Parking Time Exceeded; Parking Time Violation; To be towed. It also had wheel clamps on the front and back as well as an array of parking fines on the windscreen. A sign on the back read: When you pay less for flights you can stay on holiday longer. This conveyed the message that with the extra money that consumers save using 1Time, they can stay away longer. All this made for quite a spectacle and even had some passengers taking their own photos of the car in disbelief.

Many students of Girls and Boys Town come from a background of abuse, drugs and violence. To convey the reforming ability of the organization DDB South Africa created thesevery simple TV commercials. Each one deals with a different topic and shows a student’s hand drawing something of a negative nature (i.e. a marijuana cigarette). The student then completes the drawing and it turns into something innocent and friendly. This change is symbolic of the transformation that happens within the students and conveys the purpose of Girls and Boys Town, which is to give a person back their innocence.

The campaign idea was to create a chicken shortage due to Robertsons’ tasty spices. The next step was TV and to show how farmers have to cope with the demand for chicken. Lately in South Africa there have been many power outs due growing infrastructure. So everybody should get the ER Lamp that turns on when the lights go off. Who knows what we could be enduring in the dark in our everyday lives. This campaign from DDD South Africa uses night-vision to demonstrate just that. Be it someone drinking water from grandpa’s false teeth cup, sitting on a sleeping child or missing the toilet bowl.

TBWAHunt Lascaris needed to bolster their creative department with some top young talent. Agency CD Gary Steele said: "Recruitment agents (head hunters) are not only ridiculously expensive but also tend to send dozens of unsuitable candidates. We needed a cheap short cut to the good staff. We decided to target the top five advertising agencies in South Africa ourselves. We reproduced the layout pads of the most popular supplier (Art Book Centre) and delivered them to the agencies. They looked the same as always, apart from the recruitment ad scamped on the first page."

TBWAHunt Lascaris created the line ‘Natural born hitters’ and calls on all South Africans to ‘Get behind our team’. To bring the concept onto a billboard, they placed a smoke machine between the bat and the ball. When the smoke machine goes off, it gives the illusion that the ball has been hit with so much power, it is smoking.
