Having worked in this category (on this exact brand, to be honest) I know how hard it is to do great work that not only engages people, but also communicates the (albeit sometimes tenuous) product benefits. The Quilted Northern work absolutely nails it. The campaign is beautifully written. It's funny and engaging. And it even sells the product. A clear winner. READ MORE Guest judge: Dean Lee, executive CD, DDB Canada This week's guest judge is Dean Lee, executive creative director at DDB Canada, based in Vancouver.Video game trailers often try to immerse you in the storyline of the game with real world footage only to have the emotional rug pulled out from them when they showcase the actual game footage. This week's best ad, Call of Duty: Ember teaser, resists that temptation and instead uses the power of our imaginations to keep us locked into the plot of the game. READ MORE Guest Judges: Tom Martin + Julian Schreiber, Cummins&Partners This week's guest judges are Tom Martin and Julian Schreiber, executive creative directors and partners at Cummins&Partners, Sydney. Winner: Volkswagen Das Welt Auto. This was the stand out for us. Forget big budgets and special effects, this ad wins simply for its keen universal insight about the parents and the millions of innocent (and frankly obvious) white lies they tell their kids throughout childhood. READ MORE Guest Judge: Eduardo Perez, creative director, Inbrax, Chile This week's guest judge is Eduardo Perez, creative director, Inbrax, Santiago, Chile. Winner: Volkswagen, The Choice. No need to say that Volkswagen has no trouble to reinvent itself. After seeing many Volkswagen commercials, they always surprised me with something new. Although, they are saying the same old thing, the resource used to show that the main character prefers the car is different. Winner: Victoria Bitter: Raise a Glass Appeal 2015. Simple. Contagious. Clever. READ MORE Guest Judge: Eric Quennoy, executive CD, W+K Amsterdam This week's guest judge is Eric Quennoy, executive creative director, Wieden Kennedy, Amsterdam. There's some really good work in here, but I'm going with Tena: Control, which is the best incontinence ad I've ever seen. Sure it treads some familiar ground, but I love how manically jam-packed with funny ideas it is. Plus I really can't resist the opportunity to say that it made me piss my pants. I love the simplicity of the spot and how the creative resisted the need for a cliched voiceover. It was a quiet and delicate film that delivered the truth of the product well. The winner here has to be the insightful, simple film for Cancer Research UK from AMV BBDO. At first it felt like another bloody film of an activation, but it wasn't. My pick is Orange Babies: Borrowed Time. Yep, I know it's in that ever-growing category 'charity web film', but it is a harrowing execution. It manages to take you from optimism to despair in 90 seconds. Her performance really stayed with me. I loved and enjoyed this spot starring two "office easy riders" that shows what it feels to have the winning ticket, a journey from monotony to awesomeness.  This week's Bestads judge is Katrien Bottez, outgoing ECD at Duval Guillaume in Belgium. Katrien is set to take up her new ECD role at Famous in March. Winner: Weight Watchers . I was already intrigued by the title of this weight watchers commercial: 'all you can eat'. Potty mouthed princesses go hard in a new category of well produced social content, as does the snort laugh Air New Zealand safety video featuring an orc in an oxygen mask. The film, which surprised, stunned and amused me the most was Weekday X RFSU Be Carefree, not Careless. They were the third concert I saw live, after Neil Young and Pat Benatar and right before Van Halen. The musicians could've been performing in tracksuits on a highschool soundstage, and this still would've been my favorite spot. Last weekend the new football season kicked off. Manchester United who sacked their manager David Moyes, and replaced him with one of the game's most celebrated and cerebral coaches, Louis van Gaal, were quickly reminded of the harsh realities of world's toughest league, with a humiliating home defeat to Swansea. Winner: Assassin's Creed. Is this TV advertising's greatest ever foot chase? No. Because nothing will ever beat a bunch of cops chasing a gang of bank-robbing bogans, while trying not to spill their beers. That said, it certainly makes for some fun viewing. A nice simple idea that's been beautifully shot and neatly edited - in fact the editing is one of the stars of this ad. READ MORE Guest Judge: Nick Worthington, creative chairman, Colenso BBDO This week's guest judge is Nick Worthington, creative chairman at Colenso BBDO, New Zealand. Winner: The Parent's Circle. It's a wonderfully simple misdirect, you naturally assume that racism is somehow at the heart of these people's motives, and in allowing yourself to believe that they don't want you here because you don't belong, you allow yourself to be caught by the truth, that these people have all lost loved ones, and are from both sides, and they are praying that you don't end up in their shoes.
