Smoke & Mirrors New York make Tony Hawk and his peeps into birds on a wire for Arnold in this viral campaign for Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground videogame. These playful birds have their human heads and faces attached to pigeon bodies. The four famed skating champs exchange friendly quips as they watch the scenes and feature capabilities of the game far below their perch. Not wanting to create everything in 3D, Director Martin Granger and Creative Director Sean Broughton went old school and decided that costumes from the chest up were the way to go. Consideration was made for the scaling down of the boys to fit the pigeons when choosing a fabric texture to match the feathers of their avian halves.
Said Granger: "The pigeons were shot first on the pre-light day, with lighting which would complement the skaters as well as the pigeons. Shot against green screen and transferred High Def to allow for zooms in post, tracking markers were positioned where the human/bird join was going to be. This was important because when the pigeons twist and turn, it would affect specific areas that would need to match on the skaters. Next came the skaters. Martin wanted to shoot the boys at the same time to allow for interaction. Again shot green screen, and transferred High Def, the costumed boys were captured moving their heads freely while keeping their torso's as still as possible with Smoke and Mirrors NY supervising the shoot. The latest version of Autodesk Flame utilized tracked extended bi-cubics to marry the two halves together. The backgrounds were taken from the game and dropped in behind the eventual avian skater."

This powerfull and controversial spot for Body Shop and the Helen Bamber Foundation stars Emma Thompson who plays out the role of the optimistic Elena and the enslaved prostitute Maria. The viral was put together by Quiet Storm Films in three days and went live on the day of Anita Roddick's London memorial service.

To extend and localise Ford Mondeo's European produced launch commercial "Balloons" JWT New Zealand created a viral copycat of the spot. It created widespread debate on You Tube whether it was real or fake. A two minute piece on NewZealand's TV3 National News proved it to be fake but in the process created mass exposure for Ford and Mondeo.

Swanky hotel website/publisher Mr & Mrs Smith came to Nice Shirt wanting to make a film to promote their website. We all recognised the urban couple trying to escape the drudgery of normal life with a saucy weekend. But try as you might, you can't fake it at home, there are too many distractions. So we shot this idea as a pastiche of sexy perfume ads. Hopefully it rings a few bells...Actually, hopefully it won't!

George Patterson Y&R, Melbourne has created a viral spot for Victoria Bitter, featuring members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria playing the VB tune with nothing but VB bottles. Says art director Ben Couzens: "At first we weren't even sure it was possible, but with renowned conductor/composer Cezary Skubiszewski's help and after a few early tests we knew we were onto something quite amazing. The result speaks for itself."

To promote Nike’s new five-a-side football initiative, Wieden & Kennedy London commissioned Draw Pictures director, Michael Williams, to create a strikingly visual viral campaign. The resulting five films – each representing a killer move, a.k.a ‘The Deadly 5’ – have incredibly high production values by normal viral standards.
The films pit slow-mo football action (shot at 900 fps, using a Weisscam HD rig) in an industrial, unearthly midnight world of time-lapse photography. The unusual juxtaposition of speeds in a single shot creates a distinct aesthetic style whilst functionally demonstrating Nike’s five essential five-a-side skills.

Because the main crew needed to go on and shoot Richie McCaw in Kurow, Stuart and I decided that we would split up and I should take a couple of the cameramen from Documentary crew and shoot Dan showing us around. We shot the whole spot in 30 minutes, it was totally unscripted apart form a couple of scribbles on a scrap of paper, just Dan and his Dad at home in the backyard, having a kick around, a good laugh and talking about old times”

Melbourne's Connex Trains is taking on poor commuter etiquette. Inconsiderate passenger behaviour is a concern of many commuters and a problem they have wanted rectified for some time. Enter Dr Martin Merton, America’s No. 1 expert on train etiquette, a completely fictional self-help author created by Leo Burnett Melbourne. The agency began by developing an American website that announced the author was heading down under to write his next title, There’s No ‘I’ in Carriage: a self-help guide to becoming more considerate commuter.
Leo Burnett decided to use a humorous and light-hearted approach for a couple of reasons. “A parody of the self-help industry seemed the ideal way to tackle the touchy subject of commuter behaviour as it allowed us to suggest change without actually telling the general public how to behave," said Jason Williams, Creative Director.
