Biography

Alvin Lim is a multi-award winning creative generalist hailing from Singapore - a results-oriented writer/art director with a distinctive track record of pitch success, and performance in high-paced agencies and changing markets.

At 26, Alvin became a Creative Director in Singapore. And 29, Alvin was promoted to the Regional Creative Director at a WPP agency - overseeing the advertising interest of Japanese clients across Asia.

In 2007, his writing partner Greg Sutcliffe and him led JWT teamHSBC Hong Kong to win 2 global briefs for HSBC. Together, they assisted JWT London to launch the campaign “Different Points of Values” followed by the global campaign for commercial banking. Alvin’s team also pioneered the launch for HSBC Premier Banking, Women’s Golf Champion, Asian 5 Nations Rugby and their Green Card.

In 2009 - 2013, Alvin was appointed the leading creative for Global Shangri-La at Ogilvy & Mather. During this period at Ogilvy, his body of work has been highly decorated with over 188 top international statuettes and merits in multiple categories across every notable advertising award show there is, including Gold at Cannes Lions, CLIO, Spikes Asia, London International and One Show. His work for "Old Parts for New" was even named WARC World's Top 10 Smartest Marketing Campaigns of the Year. All these results led Ogilvy Hong Kong to become the undefeated Campaign’s Agency of the Year in Hong Kong for another year.

In 2013 - 2014, Alvin led FCB Shanghai in securing the business for Oreo - Mondelez, Levi’s, and Mattel. In late 2013, he also pitched against a list of multinational agencies and won the brief for Samsung’s Nanjing Youth Olympic Game 2013 - gaining the agency 1st official Olympic game experience.

In 2015, Alvin led Grey Beijing to the 4th most awarded Creative agency in China with 6 Silver Cannes Lions, Spikes, London International and many more. The work for Beijing Subway was honored a Diploma for Top Outdoor, Ambient Campaign, and ranked Asia’s Most Awarded Print/OOH Ads and Campaign in 2015 by Gunn Report.

In 2016, Alvin joined Cheil Greater China after securing the business for Nissan Infiniti, followed by winning the multi-million dollar business Volkswagen in less than 6 months.

Alvin’s creative leadership and work have often been recognized and reflected on the Directory Big Won Ranking, the Gunn Report and Campaign Brief.

Alvin has also represented China and Hong Kong as a jury at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Young Cannes Lions, the Spikes Asia, London International and the New York Festival. The China Advertising Association also enlisted his expertise to help China place the best Chinese talents forward to compete at the Young Cannes Lions for 2014, 2015 and 2016. Alvin was honored by the Association when teamChina consistently won 2 Gold, a Silver and Bronze in the span of 3 years.
