EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum: Dear Erin - This Is Not Us

Top 6 this week
Stereotypes have long been used as a way of misrepresenting the Irish, and there’s still one place in which they thrive… Hollywood.

So we decided to speak to Hollywood in their own language, creating a movie filled with every tired trope imaginable: a flat cap, shamrocks, a tweed jacket, and a whiskey glass clasped in a bloody-knuckled hand.

Luckily, it wasn’t a real movie. It was the latest campaign for EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum.

To ensure maximum impact, we executed a movie marketing strategy comprised of all the elements people expected to see in a film release: A movie star, cinema ads, a big OOH campaign - before we revealed that we were challenging the outdated stereotypes about Ireland, and making a point about Ireland’s true contribution to the world.
