 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    June 29, 2015 13:01 (Edited: February 17, 2023 05:19)
BEST TV
Winner: Rekorderlig Cider: Silver Skaters. In TV I'm going to have to go for this one because the freshness of the absurd captivated me from the beginning. There are endless possibilities in this kind of storytelling and that's the key to create disruptive advertising. The bearded skaters and the weirdo singer are both tremendous hooks that keep your attention till the end of the ad.

Runner-up: Carlsberg: If Carlsberg Did Haircuts. This is my runner-up because of the same reason. Similar mechanic to the cider ad working on the absurd and bringing freshness to the screen through a story that you really want to watch until the end.

BEST PRINT
Winner: DHL Express: Hands, 1. Brilliant simplicity. That's the reason. This ad reminds me the clean structure from the 90's print ads but with the needed visual modernity. Are we going back to basics? We will see this work winning big at Cannes 2016.

Runner-up: Siemens: Odors Out, 1. This kind of VFX is always welcome. They are funny and simple to communicate cristal clear benefits. I would shamelessly vote for my DDB colleagues in Istanbul for this simple and effective idea.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: McDonald's: McBike. It's simple and effective. The world is moving towards sustainable energy. And advertising is moving towards this kind of ideas. An innovation that boosts a good behavior in people must be awarded.

Runner-up: Nike: Chin Ups. The message is delivered loud and clear with a simple idea. Not a Cannes contender surely, but smart enough to be a runner-up.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: Akatu Institute For Conscious Consumption: The Voice of the Drought. Taking an organic problem into the digital world through the creation of a new typography is a beautiful work that should be considered.

Runner-up: Gillette: Community Player. Text messaging and soccer are two things anyone can relate to. I'm not sure if the stunt really worked perfectly but the idea is enough powerful to capture my interest as a viewer. Again, simplicity is the way to connect.
