Furphy, an Aussie beer brand that also means an untrue or downright unbelievable story, wanted to be the unofficial beer of Australia’s most unbelievable game-day - the 2021 AFL Grand Final. To do this, Furphy brought two footy-day icons together, beer and pies, to create Furphy Footy Porky Pies - an unbelievably-delicious Furphy-infused beef and bacon pie. The pies were made available for hungry footy fans to order online and they sold out within minutes. They even arrived in cases of corrugated cardboard, just like a slab of beer. On the inside lids of every pack were made-up porky pies about the footy so that fans could read porky pies while scoffing down, well you know, porky pies. It wasn’t just the fans, the media also ate it up and Furphy Lager became the talk (and beer) of the town - and that’s no porky pie.
