Monash University: Meet Younger You - Monash University
Have you ever been asked: ‘would your younger self be proud of you?’. It’s not just a difficult question to answer because we lose grasp of our purest childhood hopes and dreams as we get older. It’s also because no one’s been able to ask their younger self in the first place.
While most ‘grow out’ of their ambition to make the world a better place, Monash students, academics and alumni are the exception to the rule. Thanks to the university's uniquely powerful ‘Change It’ attitude, putting all their focus and resources into challenging the status quo and making change for the better, it’s become a magnet for the world’s sharpest change-makers, with everything they need to make a real difference. So while they’re undeniably making their younger selves proud, there remained one more problem to solve… to bring their younger selves to life to answer the question. Using facial-mapping, and AI generative visual and audio technology on real childhood pictures, we brought Monash academics to life. Conducted as a social experiment disguised as an interview, each of the nine talent would express the wonders they’ve been able to achieve thanks to the unique facilities and resources at their disposal. We then surprised them by bringing their younger self into the room to answer an age-old question: 'would your younger self proud of you?'.
