Impero: Flypost 02

Some children in the UK are living in “Dickensian” poverty. Not our words - those of the Children’s Commissioner for England. Kids are so hungry, they’re eating pencil rubbers. How is this happening, here, in the UK, today? That’s what we asked too. So, we’re doing our bit to help change that. Summer holidays are approaching. That means 8 weeks with no free school meals, and more pressure on struggling families.

That’s why we launched The Lunch Hour Sacrifice.

The thinking is simple:
UK emergency food need: ↑ 94% in the last 5 years
Child destitution: ↑ 88%
1 in 3 food parcels now feeds a starving child

But the average working lunch break, when most people are being paid to eat, is worth £16.85.

That could feed a child for a week.

So we’re asking workers across the UK…

To ask their boss to donate the cost of their lunch break to a food bank. (That’s your annual salary x 0.0005.) We’ve even pre-written an email you can send to your boss.

It’s all at www.lunchhoursacrifice.org

If just 0.1% of UK businesses did this, just once, it could raise millions.
