Finom: Truck

Finom and their agency are challenging Berliners to pronounce words like Grundstückverkehrsgenehmigungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung*.

Why? To spread the word about their petition to appeal to UNESCO to officially recognize Bürokratendeutsch — bureaucratic German — as a dead language. To bring the idea to the public, Talent Creative Agency led a three-day activation across Berlin’s major business districts, showcasing bureaucratic terms so long and unwieldy they literally don’t fit anywhere.

Benches were wrapped with oversized compound words, trucks circled the Ministry of Finance, Berlin’s landmark purple pipes were taken over, the message was projected onto a building, and a special dictionary of Bürokratendeutsch appeared in bookstores. Even Finom’s recently introduced Bürokratiemonster made a street appearance to greet passersby.
