Whirlpool, via agency DDB Melbourne, launched its first Australian TVC series in 15 years last night, and once again famously asks 'Guess Whose Mum's Got a Whirlpool?'.To complement the success of Whirlpool's humorous print campaign which launched in September last year, the new television ads feature the same iconic Australian entertainers - Dave Hughes, Bert Newton and Molly Meldrum.
The campaign dresses the men up as their own mothers in the kitchen or laundry, and features 'Mrs Newton', 'Mrs Meldrum' and 'Mrs Hughes' speaking coquettishly to camera about their famous sons and appliances.Says Grant Rutherford, Creative Director at DDB Melbourne: "Developing the Whirlpool brand campaign onto the screen was a fantastic creative opportunity that will certainly differentiate Whirlpool from a category full of sterile communications and appliance 'porn' advertising."
