Organ transplantation needs to be done quickly after you have died. Doctors need to know immediately whether you want to be a donor. Usually they ask your close ones. If you haven’t discussed the issue, your mother’s will can become your will. The traditional organ donation card doesn’t solve these problems. It is usually filled in private and no one else knows where it’s kept.358 Helsinki provided the solution

Solution
USING FACEBOOK IS EASY
We found one solution that helps saving lives and makes saying yes to organ donation easier in many ways.
1) Your will is always quickly accessible to your close ones. So your organs can be transplanted immediately and lives can be saved.
2) It’s simpler and quicker to state your will. You only need a computer and an Internet connection.
3) When you say yes, it spreads the word of the issue automatically.

The solution was that we asked people to write ”Yes to organ donation” as their political view on Facebook.

Then we organised an event on European Organ Donation Day 23rd October 2010 to promote the new way of saying yes. We formed a symbolic organ donation line of 300 volunteers. Every time somebody would come to the desk and change their political vies on Facebook, one person got out of the queue. The queue was gone in two hours.

Result
11 474 000 MEDIA IMPRESSIONS
Facebook doesn't provide information on how many did it. We promoted the new way of saying yes with an event that achieved 11,474,000 media impressions (double the amount of people in Finland).
