Mobility Dogs: Helping Prisoners Escape

Mobility Dogs Trust partners highly trained dogs with people who live with long-term disabilities like MS, muscular dystrophy and spinal cord injuries. These dogs help their partners with everyday tasks giving them a new lease on life.

One of Mobility Dogs' initiatives, in partnership with the Department of Corrections, is the Puppies in prison program at the Auckland Region Women's Correctional Facility. Selected prisoners work with specialists to train the puppies, learning new skills and giving back to the wider community in the process.

The brief for Whybin TBWA Tequila, Auckland was to raise awareness about the work Mobility Dogs Trust does with both the prisoners who help train the dogs and the people they're partnered with. The agency highlighted the way Mobility Dogs help prisoners escape by placing a dog's chew toy in a cake and delivering it to media commentators. They identified key media figures, such as Kerry Woodham, to send the specially packed Mobility Dogs cake to.
