Viral advergame and app specialists Koko Digital have been working with Confused.com once again, this time to develop a new video application called ‘Home Sweet Zombie’. The idea of the video app is to raise awareness of the importance of Home Insurance and raise Confused.com’s social media profile.

Koko developed the application by utilising Google Maps Technology, delivering a unique experience of the user’s home being swamped by Zombies. Users must put in their postcode and after doing so their hometown becomes over run by the illustrated un-dead; giving the user the impression that their home is in danger from a zombie attack! The climax of the video comes in the form of the user’s home being comically blown up when one of the Zombies eats a cake containing a bomb. Speaking about the video app, Mike Hoban, Marketing Director at Confused.com, said: “We’re looking to get people talking about this video app and make people understand the importance of having home insurance. We want to create customer engagement and via Facebook and Twitter we want people to share and like this video, building essential relationships with our customers.’’

‘Home Sweet Zombie’ has not only been developed as an e-mail campaign and for their website, but it can also be accessed via Facebook, embracing Facebook’s new features to allow users to embed their custom video into their own timeline. The e-mail will be sent to 1.2 million existing Confused.com customer’s with the opportunity to share it directly onto their Facebook wall and Twitter profile, sharing the fun and giving potential customers the chance to put in their own postcode to enjoy the app too. Koko felt this was the ideal way to incorporate social networking directly into an e-mail campaign and raise the profile of Confused.com virally to an audience that may not have considered buying home insurance through them before.
Koko have worked with Confused.com several times in the past few years on projects such as the award winning ‘World of Confusion’ and ‘Cara’s Pocket Launcher’ which has received over 7 million plays to date.
