This campaign aims to demonstrate to all newsreaders the importance of freedom of press, which the Mail & Guardian strongly upholds. The campaign launched at a time where press freedom was a heavy conversation driver due to impending restrictions the South African government wanted to place on the media. The concept behind the campaign is conveyed through famous press photographs that have had their subjects removed so that only the locations are left, demonstrating that without freedom of press, there is no story.
