Top 6: January 2nd 2008
Once again inspiration for the creative came from statistics sourced from global research commissioned by HSBC. Set in India, the spot follows two neighbouring businesses that are in conflict with each other to an extent that things reach breaking point. The action starts with the two shop owners entering into a territorial dispute, with an insight from Sweden where 68% of people said that in business you have to be prepared to defend your territory. As the tensions boil up, we learn of the resolve characteristic of 65% of Italians who thought that backing down is a sign of weakness. The unexpected resolution of the commercial is that the two businesses merge into one, with the statistic that 38% Indians believe that success in business often comes from the unlikeliest of partnerships.
