Volkswagen has released a TV and cinema ad to promote technology that switches off a car’s engine whenever it comes to a standstill.The spot shows a father taking his child out for a drive to get him to sleep. The plan works until the car stops and VW’s start/stop technology kicks in, switching off the motor and disturbing the baby. This happens several times before the father spots another man in the same position, in a VW Golf with.The ad ends with the line: "Start/stop technology, available across the range. At least you’ll save money on fuel."
