Guest Judge: João Braga, CCO, JWT Bangkok

 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    March 18, 2019 18:27 (Edited: February 17, 2023 05:19)
BEST TV
Winner: Mercedes Benz / Bertha Benz. Brand heritage beautifully delivered in a film that's technically impeccable. Reminds me of the good days of Stella Artois, but I'm missing some of that old wit and charm.

Runner Up: Hyundai Runaway Tent. If you've done car before, you'll know 99% of the briefs are about finding a smart way to show the product from beginning to end. They found a clever solution with this insightful and nicely executed little story. Just wished it went a bit further, crazier, wilder.

BEST PRINT
We are not in print season, I'm afraid.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: Chevrolet. I've seen quite a few stunts using football jerseys as well as ideas for World Car Free Day. But here they managed to combine both in a way that's just so simple and sharp. Lovely idea, a shorter case study could make it stronger.

Runner Up: #JustBoobs. Feels more like art than ad. Not sure if that's good or bad. Some pieces would probably help close the loop but I still love the irreverence and simplicity. Impossible to ignore.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: 3D Activist. 15 minutes superbly well spent. You can feel the truth and the passion all over it. Brains and hearts working together to deliver a powerful message we just can't ignore.

Runner Up: Preservation Robot. Not the most fantastic innovation, but I quite like the contrast. It's good know a robot is helping preserve our heritage while I'm here judging ads.
