Guest Judge: Richard Gorodecky, ECD, Amsterdam Worldwide

 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    May 06, 2014 19:55 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
Winner: Autism Speaks. It's relatively easy, with a theme such as autism, to make work that moves people. But I'm not voting for this one on how much it moved me. I'm voting for this based on how damn smart and ambitious it is. Really fresh use of an ad block and a brilliant collaboration with brands.

Runner Up: Heineken. As a proud resident of the Flatlands I can truly appreciate a film celebrating all that this balmy country holds dear. If you don't 'get' Dutch, this film might just seem like an insane collage of orange-tinted madness. But that's not a bad take out either.

BEST PRINT
Winner: Blunt. Love it! Blunt should make an umbrella using these illustrations. Do I really need to write a paragraph about why this is great? Look at it. It just is.

Runner Up: Panasonic. Yeah I know we've all seen the small stuff made bigger to convey a zoom message. But this one's a cut above most.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner: Disque Denuncia. Again a highly charged subject that gives the work a massive head start. But separating powerful subject matter from a powerful idea, this is really, really good.

Runner up: KLM. I truly appreciate the experimental nature of KLM's work and this is another nice example.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner: Blood Of Hope. There's so much energy put into apps. Great to see when some of it is directed into something so genuinely useful. This is just a really simple and very smart solution to a very serious problem. By the way, I could have done with a little less death and destruction in the case study. I got the point early on.

Runner up: Guide Dogs. A truly amazing example of 'interactive' as this piece is a genuinely new way for the blind to interact with the world around them. Nice work.
