 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    March 06, 2017 13:26 (Edited: February 17, 2023 04:19)
BEST TV
Winner - #Equallove by Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Quick: point the differences between this #Equallove ad and the Coca Cola Pool Boy one. Hmmm... Let me see... One uses a LGBT friendly message to sell sugary drinks, the other sells equality. One shows a sequence of ad cliches, the other features a smart insight. One pictures plastic abs, the other a chubby real person. What can I say... simple differences sometimes can be a big deal.

Runner Up - Yorkshire Tea by Lucky Generals. The positioning "Where everything's done proper" could've have come to life as a lame, safe tagline if used with a "superior quality product" example. Instead, they turned it into a fun company mantra a la ESPN's This Is Sportscenter. This is what I call a sweet, sweet lemonade.

BEST PRINT
Winner - Burger King by David, Miami. The kind of ad that motivates me to go to work every day. Congratulations to David for getting a great, unorthodox idea like this approved. My deepest respect and admiration for the Burger King marketing team who once again burns the competition (sorry, couldn't avoid it).

Runner Up - Yamaha Motorcycles by Dentsu Jayme Syfu. Smart, simple visual play. I miss those days.

BEST OUTDOOR
Winner - Farley & Bell by AMVBBDO. Smart idea, powerful message. Not sure about being an outdoor vs an activation though... But hey, like I said, "Don't feed the exploitation" is a smart idea and a powerful message.

Runner Up - Bulleit Bourbon by Barton F. Graf 9000, New York. An actual outdoor board with an idea. I miss those days.

BEST INTERACTIVE
Winner - Florida Lego Resort: Quest to Legoland by VML New York. Do you have kids? I do. Trust me, this is some genius shit right here.

Runner Up - The Hindu Newspaper: A tale of two cities by J. Walter Thompson, India. A code that allows two different videos to run parallel at the same time on one interactive video platform, viewed by simply switching the orientation of your mobile phone screen? Sign me up for it.
