BEST TVOkay, so this may have something to do with the fact that my dear old mum has the onset of dementia, but I found myself genuinely moved by the
Alzheimer's Society film. Fittingly, like the disease, it creeps up on you. As a script, it probably wouldn't excite me that much. The whole repetition of 8am. Bit obvious maybe. But in the hands of the right director, it gets you right in the feels. Execution is everything here. Congrats Ian and team.
Runner up:
Peas of Heaven. A great brief. A distinctly Swedish execution. Kind of like Midsommer, only no one dies. It's weirdly enjoyable, from the pack shot to the pan pipes. Not for everyone, a bit like a plant based hot dog. But I loved it.
BEST PRINTBest print:
Casa Protegida. Simple. Perfect execution. Deeply thought provoking.
Runner up: Jeep. Yep get the whole Morse code thing but did it really run guys? Sorry but if I was on an awards jury, my scam-o-metre would be going off right now.
BEST OUTDOOR There can be only one winner. It basically broke the internet this week. Penguin Random House '
The Unburnable Book. There's something deeply agreeable about the sight of a fully weaponised Margaret Atwood. Blessed be the flame.
No runner up. Blame Margaret Atwood.
BEST RADIO No one in this category came close to doing an 'Atwood'. But if there was one winner I guess it would have to be '
The Audio Ad You Can See' for Royal Australian Navy. Just in time for Cannes too. Bet they enter it in Press Lions. Mad if you don't.
